The Ford F-150 is practically synonymous with American transportation. And that’s not just our personal bias at Bill Walsh Ford—last year’s news revealed that the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling pickup in America for 40 years.
This honorable title doesn’t come to Ford for lack of work. Ford is constantly pushing to make the F-150 even better and to meet the needs of drivers before they even realize they’re necessary. In keeping with that pace, the new 2018 Ford F-150 has some new features. According to Detroit Free Press writer Mark Phelan, here are the outstanding features of the new F-150:
The biggest and most remarkable change in the 2018 Ford F-150 deals with the transmission. A 10-speed automatic transmission, which was recently only available on the highest trim levels, is now standard on all but the base model, which gets a six-speed transmission in its place. The 10-speed automatic shifts smoothly for powerful, even acceleration. Engine options include the updated 5-liter V8 and 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6.
This updated powertrain means more than just a more thrilling ride—it also means even stronger capability. Both the payload and the towing maximums increase in the 2018 Ford F-150, so that this truck can now haul up to 13,200 pounds. With new safety features like pedestrian detection and automatic braking added to the list, too, the new 2018 Ford F-150 is clearly equipped to handle just about anything.
